He sits and he watches the clock tick.
Sipping his coffee He stares out the window each day. And he wonders, What is the right thing to do? The right thing to say? Mr. Indecision Hoping that things will change. Mr. Indecision He stares into the mirror Inside his reflection He finds no connection at all. And he wonders, What would it feel like? The feeling of speaking his mind. What would he find? Mr. Indecision Daydreaming his life away Hoping that things will change. Mr. Indecision Wasting his time The boy is running out of sweet time He wants to please everybody No broken hearts He’d love to please everybody No broken hearts Hearts Mr. Indecision Daydreaming his life away Hoping that things will change. Mr. Indecision He’s wasting his time Wasting his time Yea he’s wasting his time Yea he’s wasting his time Mr. Indecision |

I Feel Bad and I don’t know why
I Feel Bad and I don’t know why. I met a Texas girl back in ‘91 We were getting high and having fun I almost died and I was done. You clean up good her momma said And I got a job to pay the rent And we got married and it was heaven sent. But late at night lying in my bed No relief from the sense of dread The void I felt I can’t describe. I Feel Bad and I don’t know why I wanna cry I Feel Bad and I don’t know why. God is looking down on me and I wanna hide. Like the fairytales that my grandma read We bought a house and had a kid A little girl and my life was rich. But the chemicals had become my friend I had dug a tunnel that had no end It was all okay so I’d pretend. I’d take a bath so I’d be clean But happiness it seemed obscene It only came when I got high. I Feel Bad and I don’t know why All the blue across the sky and it makes me cry. I Feel Bad and I don’t know why. God is looking down on me and I wanna die. I wanna die A ghost that floated through their lives Piling up a stack of lies Maybe there’s time to make me right. I Feel Bad and I don’t know why The sun is shining down on me and I wanna cry. I Feel Bad and I don’t know why. God is looking down on me and why do I lie? Why do I lie? Everything I’ve ever done is mine. No more lies. |

In the tick of a second hand
My life forever changed Got the news from my loving wife There’s a baby on the way It’s gonna be a tiny girl How I feel inside My excitement filled with tears Ego, fear and pride I am just a Grain Of Sand Like a hundred million dads An ordinary simple man who loves his daughter I can’t hide her from it all A Grain Of Sand is Very small. So very small In the fall on a rainy night My daughter came to be All the worries that I had Intensified for me In a world beyond control In places I can’t see I will do the best I can Then get down on my knees I am just a Grain Of Sand Like a hundred million dads An ordinary simple man who loves his daughter I can’t hide her from it all A Grain Of Sand is Very small, so very small, so very small, so very small Love. Now that I feel love It’s gonna break my heart The feeling in my heart I am just a Grain Of Sand Like a hundred million dads An ordinary simple man who loves his daughter I can’t hide her from it all A Grain Of Sand is Very small, so very small, so very small, so very small |

Poignant message to a daughter from her father in this lovely Beatle style ballad with twelve string guitar and violins. The story behind ICU In Dandylions… “In the early fall of 2000 my then four year old daughter Moyra and I were driving past a 7/11 on the way to Grandma Nikki’s house when she blurted out “ I see you in dandelions daddy”. I proceeded to tell her that was silly, but she insisted. “No daddy, it’s true. I see you in dandelions, and Kali saw you too!”{Kali is my niece and my daughters buddy.} That statement from my daughter {and the conviction behind it} swirled around in my head for a couple of days. And then on a Saturday evening I sat down with my acoustic guitar, and the song just came out. The simple words from my daughter were a turning point in my recovery. I see it as divine intervention. The story of the dandelion, which after dying and being spread across the skies yet coming back stronger than ever, became my story. A rebirth. And my daughters’ innocence, grace and non-judgmental attitude toward others made me {and still does} take a long hard look at myself. I am forever grateful that Moyra is in my life. The CD “ICU In Dadylions” is dedicated to her and is a diary of my thoughts and feelings throughout the last very interesting two years. I hope that if you find a bit of your story in mine, that this CD would be one of hope and connection. People can change. And love is the answer. Peace, Regan |

The grip I had is feeling loose
And I think I’m gonna slip Yesterday I felt all right But today I’m feeling sick My inspiration might be dead But my body carries on Maybe just a day That Won’t Be Long Seems I can’t feel anything Nothing does the trick And I built my resistance up So high it’s hard to hit Communication might be dead But life just carries on Maybe just a day That Won’t Be Long It Won’t Be Long, It Won’t Be Long It Won’t Be Long, It Won’t Be Long When I woke up this morning Everything seemed black Like monochrome was a way of life Don’t want to be like that When I woke up this morning Everything seemed cold Oh I am waiting patiently for this day to just go When I go to bed tonight If I make it to that time And I can look right next to me It’s good to be alive The competition can be rough But somehow we survive Maybe just a day that we got by I said maybe just a day that we got by It Won’t Be Long, It Won’t Be Long It Won’t Be Long, It Won’t Be Long |

Upbeat Lennon like 60’s vibe acoustic pop about ‘one of those days’ we all have with an interesting pedal steel and very pointed lyrics. |

I think I hear you speaking
It sounds like a machine inside my head Maybe it’s just boredom With relationships that echo from the dead Like a VJ on my TV screen Jet up in the sky Drone Drone I feel just like a spaceman Lost somewhere he doesn’t understand I don’t know when it happened But it happened and that’s all I’ve got to have Like a party on a summer night Children stuck at home Drone Drone Yes I hear the Drone Yes I hear the Drone It goes on and on and on and on and on… Yes I’m sad Cause I love you No new plans Yes I love you Yea, like the bible thumpers everyday Who say we’ll burn in hell Like a teacher who don’t like his job He just don’t teach it well Drone Drone Yes I hear the Drone Yes I hear the Drone It goes on and on and on and on and on… |

Earth Boy swears to God it’s true
Used to fly with Spock and Zeus Grounded by the weight of hatred He can see the sun But he doubts he’s make it Oh Yea Yea, yea he’s got the blues Yea, yea for me and you Earth Boy says we still have time Pick a number get in line Do what you can Someone out there needs you God is good God could be great I wonder if he wants to wait to say goodbye to us all? Hanging out on old junkie row Doing dope and loving whores Despair is like a sweet disaster One will kill you first One will kill you faster Oh Yea Yea, yea I got the blues Yea, yea for me and you Earth Boy was a friend of mine Never tried justify The way he was He said it didn’t matter People do what people want It’s only bad if you get caught It’s not a crime To evolve Earth Boy wants to change the world and get the girl He says he’s got a plan Earth Boy says please don’t you cry Everybody’s gonna die No matter what Anybody tells you Heavens just a state of mind Life is what you leave behind So taste it all While you can |

From the opening blast of energy on the power pop rockin’ title cut to the electronic pulse of the Bowie-esque final song ‘Earth Boy’ Regan Lane’s ‘Don't Mess With The Pretty’ is an eclectic, ambitious collection of intelligent pop and rock.
Seamlessly mixing crunchy guitars, country tinged pedal steel, bluesy harmonica and shiny strumming acoustics with a rhythm section as elastic as a rubber band Regan‘s crafty pop evokes memories of John Lennon and talks about tryin to fit in and still be an individual, how fast it all goes by, good days and bad days and of course a little sex, lust and love.
