1. Mr. Indecision Play
Mr. Indecision
He sits and he watches the clock tick.
Sipping his coffee
He stares out the window each day.
And he wonders,
What is the right thing to do?
The right thing to say?

Mr. Indecision
Hoping that things will change.
Mr. Indecision

He stares into the mirror
Inside his reflection
He finds no connection at all.
And he wonders,
What would it feel like?
The feeling of speaking his mind.
What would he find?

Mr. Indecision
Daydreaming his life away
Hoping that things will change.
Mr. Indecision
Wasting his time
The boy is running out of sweet time

He wants to please everybody
No broken hearts
He’d love to please everybody
No broken hearts
Hearts
Mr. Indecision
Daydreaming his life away
Hoping that things will change.
Mr. Indecision
He’s wasting his time
Wasting his time
Yea he’s wasting his time
Yea he’s wasting his time

2. I Feel Bad Play
I Feel Bad
I Feel Bad and I don’t know why
I Feel Bad and I don’t know why.

I met a Texas girl back in ‘91
We were getting high and having fun
I almost died and I was done.
You clean up good her momma said
And I got a job to pay the rent
And we got married and it was heaven sent.

But late at night lying in my bed
No relief from the sense of dread
The void I felt I can’t describe.

I Feel Bad and I don’t know why
I wanna cry
I Feel Bad and I don’t know why.
God is looking down on me and I wanna hide.

Like the fairytales that my grandma read
We bought a house and had a kid
A little girl and my life was rich.
But the chemicals had become my friend
I had dug a tunnel that had no end
It was all okay so I’d pretend.

I’d take a bath so I’d be clean
But happiness it seemed obscene
It only came when I got high.

I Feel Bad and I don’t know why
All the blue across the sky and it makes me cry.
I Feel Bad and I don’t know why.
God is looking down on me and I wanna die.
I wanna die

A ghost that floated through their lives
Piling up a stack of lies
Maybe there’s time to make me right.

I Feel Bad and I don’t know why
The sun is shining down on me and I wanna cry.
I Feel Bad and I don’t know why.
God is looking down on me and why do I lie?
Why do I lie?
Everything I’ve ever done is mine.
No more lies.

3. Junkie Play
Junkie
Moyra Adeline Wynell
My daughter saved me from this hell
Took me out of my dark well
And opened up my eyes

Who I am and who’ll I’ll be
It really is a mystery
And I’m so tired of misery
I’ll take this second chance

Junkie
If I’m gone the world keeps spinning ‘round
Round and Round
Junkie
What is lost it surely can be found
It’s in my heart.

The question marks that haunted me
Have been erased and I can see
Endless possibilities
I can make this right

Everybody needs a friend
And I could hold on to the end
Who I am and what I send
Is something I can’t fight

Junkie
The bottom wasn’t deep enough for me
No not for me.
Junkie
Everything I have is what I need.
It’s in my heart.

Junkie
There is this feeling that there’s something I should say
Baby I’m starting over.
Junkie
Oh know I feel, oh now I see, yea now I know.
It’s in my heart.

4. Selfish Sadness Play
Selfish Sadness
Desperation led me to this place
And now I have to face the fact
That I dealt this hand

Consequences that have buried me
And now it’s time to see
The reasons I made you sad

I’ve got no time on my side
I’ve used up all nine of my lives
I need you but I’ve got my pride
I’m sinking slow

In my Selfish Sadness

Can you raise from this bitter state
I want to float away
I’d like to leave us as friends

I justified the many times I lied
You’re never satisfied
I covered you in my sins

The past is a sweet summer cloud
The present a gun in my mouth
A coward who knows the way out
Still I’m lying here

In my Selfish Sadness
My Selfish Sadness

I hear there’s a light in my heart
But right now I don’t feel a spark
So leave me alone in the dark
I’m laying here

In my Selfish Sadness
My Selfish Sadness

5. Grain Of Sand Play
Grain Of Sand
In the tick of a second hand
My life forever changed
Got the news from my loving wife
There’s a baby on the way
It’s gonna be a tiny girl
How I feel inside
My excitement filled with tears
Ego, fear and pride

I am just a Grain Of Sand
Like a hundred million dads
An ordinary simple man who loves his daughter
I can’t hide her from it all
A Grain Of Sand is
Very small. So very small

In the fall on a rainy night
My daughter came to be
All the worries that I had
Intensified for me
In a world beyond control
In places I can’t see
I will do the best I can
Then get down on my knees

I am just a Grain Of Sand
Like a hundred million dads
An ordinary simple man who loves his daughter
I can’t hide her from it all
A Grain Of Sand is
Very small, so very small, so very small, so very small

Love.
Now that I feel love
It’s gonna break my heart
The feeling in my heart

I am just a Grain Of Sand
Like a hundred million dads
An ordinary simple man who loves his daughter
I can’t hide her from it all
A Grain Of Sand is
Very small, so very small, so very small, so very small

6. Never Be The Same Play
Never Be The Same
Turn the page the story’s over
You and me are through
Bitterness I felt this year
Something I been working through
Years that we had were not all deception
That’s a simple truth
Love I have won’t just disappear
True that I been missing you
The little things you do
I guess I finally got a clue

And I know it will Never Ever Be The Same
And I know there’s a mountain of you pain

Little girl has answered some questions
Like a ray of light
In the year that I’ve been away
I’ve come to see that you were right
I am thankful and blessed for the time that we had girl
And I’ve lost the pain
If you need me for anything
Baby call me when you can
And I’ll try to understand
It’s over but it isn’t bad

And I know it will Never Ever Be The Same
And I know your tears came down like rain
And I know it will Never Ever Be The Same
And I know and I know and I know

The holidays kind of get me down
I’m adjusting to the fact that you’re not around
I’m so tired of crying
I been looking ahead to the great unknown
I’ve been looking behind at our broken home
I’ll never stop trying

And I know it will Never Ever Be The Same
And I know there’s a river of your pain
And I know it will Never Ever Be The Same
And I know and I know and I know

7. Look At Me Play
Look At Me
While you are young and everything’s new
There’s something I need you to know
It wasn’t your fault that I disappeared
It wasn’t your fault I fell low
When I look at you I see who I am
And who I should be
The hope that I have is the dreams in your head
Someday I will see

I want you to know that your daddy still cares
Sometimes your life wont be fair

Look At Me.
Look At Me.

Me and your mom we just drifted apart
But we’re still connected
Our souls and our hearts
The space that is there makes no difference at all
And we hear each other
Even when we don’t call
I want you to know that we’ll always be there
As life marches on
And the promise I make is the love that I have
Will always be strong

Oh now my little girl come here please take my hand
I’ve got so many big plans

8. Embrace Play
Embrace
Cleveland Bobs’ a friend of mine
He’s got this crazy dream
Surfing on the crystal sunny waves
On certain days I envy him
He’s put the past away
Buried inside it’s deep dark grave

Embrace the things you know that you should be
Embrace the hope that love will set you free
Love will set you free

Melanie’s a friend of mine
She’s got this bright red hair
I tease her that she is my circus clown
She doesn’t see herself the way I see her everyday
She says I pick her up she’s underground

Embrace the things you know that you should be
Embrace the hope that love will set you free
Love will set you free

I don’t know just who I’m supposed to be
I don’t know if love will set me free
Here I go just talking about myself
Maybe I can put me on the shelf
Maybe put my ego on the shelf and see
That I am free and life is good for me

My sister Ronda is my friend
It’s been that way for years
Went to dinner just the other night
We shared some laughs we shared some tears
We shared our simple fears
I guess that makes us equal
That’s all right

Embrace the things you know that you should be
Embrace the hope that love will set you free
Embrace the things you know that you should be
Embrace the hope that love will set you free
Love will set you free
I don’t know just where I’m supposed to turn
I can’t remember all the bridges burned
Here I go just talking about myself
Maybe I can put me on the shelf
Maybe put my ego on the shelf

9. The Ocean Makes Her Cry Play
The Ocean Makes Her Cry
Photographs she takes each day
Pictures explain what her words couldn’t say
Beauty’s deceptive and death is a trip
Down down down she goes
Hills and valleys that’s all she knows
Escape is so easy
Hope is a gift

Tara says, “The world’s so full of sadness”
Tara says The Ocean Makes Her Cry
Tara’s gonna get away from all this madness
She asked me “baby make me smile”
I couldn’t even try

On her arms are three tattoos
One is for peace one is for truth
One is a symbol she says is a trick
Tara says “I need to pray”
Isn’t sure what God wants her to say
He’s got to be angry
If he even exists

Tara says, “The world’s so full of sadness”
Tara says The Ocean Makes Her Cry
Tara’s gonna get away from all this madness
She asked me “baby make me smile”
I couldn’t even try

Tara doesn’t judge the way I am
Inside my heart she’ll always be my friend
Tara says that, “life is a bad dream”
When she wakes up then she will get clean

Tara says, “The world’s so full of sadness”
Tara says The Ocean Makes Her Smile
Tara’s gonna get away from all this madness
She asked me “baby make me cry”
I couldn’t even try

Tara says that, “life is a bad dream”

10. The Crutch Of Every Fool Play
The Crutch Of Every Fool
I used to think that who I was was what I had
But know I find that it isn’t true and I have to laugh
God was dead and so was I
When I got bored I got high
I used to think I was everything
Underneath the weight of my lies

Blind faith is the
Crutch Of Every Fool
Blind faith

I used to dream that I was king of everything
Now I find that I can’t control a single thing
I was Jesus the Beatle John
I lost myself I lost it all
Everything that I thought I was
Underneath the weight of my lies

Blind faith is the
Crutch Of Every Fool
Blind faith
Blind faith is the
Crutch Of Every Fool
Blind faith
Crutch Of Every Fool

Mirror mirror on the wall
Tell me what you see
Did I live for anyone but me?
Mirror mirror on the wall
What do I believe?
When will I find out who I should be?

Blind faith is the
Crutch Of Every Fool

11. In A Song Play
In A Song
Nostalgia sucks it’s such a drain
Can’t go back like kissing rain
I’ll dredge it up I’ll play that game
If it’s really what you want to hear
The story’s sad it sure is true
Gave up everything I knew
I woke up I found the truth
Now I’m lying in the light

And when I’m sad I get the blues
I find the music pulls me through all the fear swimming in my head
I think it’s time to put it all to bed and

Move On I can move this on
Move On Who I was is gone
Now it’s In A Song

That’s enough and I am through
Past is dead and its old news
What I have I need to use
Gonna make a better life
Had a dream the other night
I was dead and no one cried
It was just a dream and that’s all right
Time’s the test

And when I’m sad I get the blues
I find the music pulls me through all the fear swimming in my head
I think it’s time to put it all to bed and

Move On I can move this on
Move On Who I was is gone
And I’m singing
Sha la-la Sha la-la every right has got a wrong Sha la-la Sha la-la-la
Now it’s In a Song

Sha la-la Sha la-la Every right has got a wrong Sha la-la Sha la-la-la
Yea I believe

Now it’s In a Song

12. ICU In Dandylions Play
ICU In Dandylions
She has eyes that mimic mine, her mouth is like her moms’
Sometimes when I hear her speak
I know that I hear God.
And in the backseat of my car there are secrets that she tells
When I hear her innocence
I know how far I fell.

ICU In Dandylions, it’s true. ICU In Dandylions it’s true.
“ Daddy I know it was you, and I know Kali saw you too.”

When we go to bed at night I touch her tiny face
She asks me can we say our prayers
I am humbled by her grace.
In the darkness of my room there are secrets that she tells
When I hear her innocence
It casts a magic spell

ICU In Dandylions, it’s true. ICU In Dandylions it’s true.

Poignant message to a daughter from her father in this lovely Beatle style ballad with twelve string guitar and violins.

The story behind ICU In Dandylions…

“In the early fall of 2000 my then four year old daughter Moyra and I were driving past a 7/11 on the way to Grandma Nikki’s house when she blurted out “ I see you in dandelions daddy”. I proceeded to tell her that was silly, but she insisted. “No daddy, it’s true. I see you in dandelions, and Kali saw you too!”{Kali is my niece and my daughters buddy.}

That statement from my daughter {and the conviction behind it} swirled around in my head for a couple of days. And then on a Saturday evening I sat down with my acoustic guitar, and the song just came out.

The simple words from my daughter were a turning point in my recovery. I see it as divine intervention. The story of the dandelion, which after dying and being spread across the skies yet coming back stronger than ever, became my story.

A rebirth.

And my daughters’ innocence, grace and non-judgmental attitude toward others made me {and still does} take a long hard look at myself.

I am forever grateful that Moyra is in my life. The CD “ICU In Dadylions” is dedicated to her and is a diary of my thoughts and feelings throughout the last very interesting two years. I hope that if you find a bit of your story in mine, that this CD would be one of hope and connection. People can change. And love is the answer.

Peace,
Regan

Play The Part
All Words and Music: Regan Lane Barger/Copyright 2006

I cut my hair the other day
My boss said it didn’t look nice
I cut my hair the other day
To climb up the ladder of life
I cut my hair and dyed my roots
Fit into the mold
The idea of it all just leaves me cold

Can you Play The Part?
I’m hiding myself and I’ll block out the real me
Can you Play The Part?
Under this mask is there someone that I’d like to be?
Play The Part

I kissed some ass the other day
The boss said it felt kind of nice
I kissed some ass the other day
I feel like I’m paying the price
I kissed some ass but that’s all right
Feel like there the fools
Their attitudes are small and so uncool

Can you Play The Part?
I’ll be someone else to protect what they’ll never see
Can you Play The Part?
I’m hiding the truth and it’s not how I want to be
Can you Play The Part?
I’m trying, I’m trying baby, yea now now now now
Can you Play The Part?
I’m dieing
But I’ll escape somehow

When I was younger everything was crystal clear to me
So many choices that I had
Now that I’m older all those choices sank into the sea
But I am not a bitter man
Not a bitter man
I’ve got no illusions
And I can feel the fear
The bottom might drop out and leave me here

Can you Play The Part?
I’m trying, trying
Can you Play The Part?
All the things that I ever thought I could do now
Can you Play The Part?
Can you Play The Part?
I look in the mirror and I know that I’m playing a part

Time Flies
All Words and Music: Regan Lane Barger/Copyright 2006

I was invincible
I was incredible
Romeo breaking girls hearts.
And I'd live forever
It would only get better
K new someday I'd be a star.

My my , Time Flies
My my,
Time Flies

And I stole a girl
Nearly ruined my world
Could have killed her it's true I confess.
We were so high
No tears, no goodbyes
Only anger and my bitterness

My my, Time Flies
My my,
Time Flies

All the twists and the turns
The times I've been burned
By the fires that I started myself
I'm not totally clean
Do you know what I mean?
I've learned how to wash up myself
Sometimes I just need some help.

And I went to jail
I was lucky got bail
And my soul mate fell out of the clouds.
And I'm still alive
Look at me I survived
And I hope that my best friends are proud.

My my, Time Flies
My my,
Time Flies
My my, Time Flies
My my,

All the twists and the turns, the times I've been burned
By the fires that I started myself.

Come, don’t be afraid
I Like The Picture of you baby
Come, don’t be afraid
I Like The Picture
Good thing, do you believe in fate?

I love your plastic model smile
Hey, hey
A little cute and a little wild
The perfect shape of both your breasts
Yea, yea
Did you really think that that would put you up above the rest?

When I turn the page and I see your face
It reminds me of a girl that I can’t replace
Are you in the next issue?

Come, don’t be afraid
I Like The Picture of you baby
Come, don’t be afraid
I Like The Picture of you baby
Come, don’t be afraid
I Like The Picture
Good thing, do you believe in fate?

Momma told me all the strangest things occur
When you least expect it, when everything’s a blur
Momma told me there will be a second chance
Open up you eyes boy, Better not make plans

Come, don’t be afraid
I Like The Picture of you baby
Come, don’t be afraid
I Like The Picture of you baby
Come, don’t be afraid
I Like The Picture
Good thing, do you believe in fate?

5. Give Them Love Play
Give Them Love
If you’re ridiculed by those to blind to see
That what you are is who you want to be.
If their attitudes make you want to scream
No reaction is an action to the pain they want to see.

Ignorance sure is frightening
Ignorance sure causes pain
I won’t give in
Not an inch

Just Give Em Love
That’s probably blow their minds after beating up on you
Just Give Em Love
No time for you to waste on people so untrue
Give Them Love
Love

And in a perfect world we all could get along
But this world isn’t perfect at all.
Like the difference between both black and white
And in between the two is the place where we don’t have to fight

Ignorance sure is frightening
Ignorance sure causes pain
I won’t give in
Not an inch

Just Get A Gun
That’s probably blow their minds after beating up on you
Just Get A Gun
No time for you to waste on humans in the zoo

Tolerate what you don’t understand
Make it easier for your fellow man

Some words can tear out your heart
Some words can tear you apart.

6. So Wrong Play
So Wrong
Coffee shop conversations
Children looking for the truth
Talking ‘bout a revolution
I see a tree it bears no fruit, it bears no fruit

They’re condescending manor
Distaste for every life
Got this crazy notion
They are never right

So Wrong
So Wrong

The world is such a bad place
And everyone’s untrue
The hopelessness they’re feeling
Isn’t something new

So Wrong
So Wrong

{Sax Solo}

Chorus Out….

Trippin
Trippin’
Words and Music: Regan L. Barger_ASCAP
Copyright 2006

I’ve got the world in the palm of my hand
The devil keeps calling
Fall to my knees and I pray

Will I ever be saved?

He whispers in my ear that I’ll be all right
I look in his eyes
And I see there’s no lies he would tell

If all is forgiven, I’ll keep on living today.

I was Trippin’
Baby I’m Trippin’
Oh darling I’m Trippin’
Trippin’

I know what is right so I follow my heart
The love that we have
Is as pure as rain in the spring

Old habits don’t die they just hide away
And if I should stumble
Know that my love will remain

I’ll keep on living, if all is forgiven today.

I was Trippin’
Oh Baby been Trippin’
Oh darling I’m Trippin’
Oh Baby been Trippin’
All the things you give to me
Yes to me
Trippin

Solo

I been Trippin’
Forever been Trippin’
Oh darling I’m Trippin’

8. It Won't Be Long Play
It Won't Be Long
The grip I had is feeling loose
And I think I’m gonna slip
Yesterday I felt all right
But today I’m feeling sick

My inspiration might be dead
But my body carries on
Maybe just a day
That Won’t Be Long

Seems I can’t feel anything
Nothing does the trick
And I built my resistance up
So high it’s hard to hit

Communication might be dead
But life just carries on
Maybe just a day
That Won’t Be Long

It Won’t Be Long, It Won’t Be Long
It Won’t Be Long, It Won’t Be Long

When I woke up this morning
Everything seemed black
Like monochrome was a way of life
Don’t want to be like that
When I woke up this morning
Everything seemed cold
Oh I am waiting patiently for this day to just go

When I go to bed tonight
If I make it to that time
And I can look right next to me
It’s good to be alive

The competition can be rough
But somehow we survive
Maybe just a day that we got by
I said maybe just a day that we got by

It Won’t Be Long, It Won’t Be Long
It Won’t Be Long, It Won’t Be Long

It Won't Be Long

9. Drone Play
Drone
I think I hear you speaking
It sounds like a machine inside my head
Maybe it’s just boredom
With relationships that echo from the dead

Like a VJ on my TV screen
Jet up in the sky

Drone
Drone

I feel just like a spaceman
Lost somewhere he doesn’t understand
I don’t know when it happened
But it happened and that’s all I’ve got to have

Like a party on a summer night
Children stuck at home

Drone
Drone
Yes I hear the Drone
Yes I hear the Drone
It goes on and on and on and on and on…

Yes I’m sad
Cause I love you
No new plans
Yes I love you

Yea, like the bible thumpers everyday
Who say we’ll burn in hell
Like a teacher who don’t like his job
He just don’t teach it well

Drone
Drone
Yes I hear the Drone
Yes I hear the Drone
It goes on and on and on and on and on…

10. Earth Boy Play
Earth Boy
Earth Boy swears to God it’s true
Used to fly with Spock and Zeus
Grounded by the weight of hatred
He can see the sun
But he doubts he’s make it
Oh Yea

Yea, yea he’s got the blues
Yea, yea for me and you

Earth Boy says we still have time
Pick a number get in line
Do what you can
Someone out there needs you
God is good God could be great
I wonder if he wants to wait
to say goodbye to us all?

Hanging out on old junkie row
Doing dope and loving whores
Despair is like a sweet disaster
One will kill you first
One will kill you faster
Oh Yea

Yea, yea I got the blues
Yea, yea for me and you

Earth Boy was a friend of mine
Never tried justify
The way he was
He said it didn’t matter
People do what people want
It’s only bad if you get caught
It’s not a crime
To evolve

Earth Boy wants to change the world and get the girl
He says he’s got a plan

Earth Boy says please don’t you cry
Everybody’s gonna die
No matter what
Anybody tells you
Heavens just a state of mind
Life is what you leave behind
So taste it all
While you can

From the opening blast of energy on the power pop rockin’ title cut to the electronic pulse of the Bowie-esque final song ‘Earth Boy’ Regan Lane’s ‘Don't Mess With The Pretty’ is an eclectic, ambitious collection of intelligent pop and rock.

Seamlessly mixing crunchy guitars, country tinged pedal steel, bluesy harmonica and shiny strumming acoustics with a rhythm section as elastic as a rubber band Regan‘s crafty pop evokes memories of John Lennon and talks about tryin to fit in and still be an individual, how fast it all goes by, good days and bad days and of course a little sex, lust and love.
